Olga Silva
Vice President

Since joining MCS in 1992, Olga has developed special expertise in international thought leader relations, product communications and clinical trial recruitment and has applied these skills to the management of diverse programs for several MCS clients, including Bristol-Myers Squibb, ImClone Laboratories, Dermik Laboratories and Genentech, Inc. In her current position, Olga directs communications initiatives on behalf of INTEGRILIN®, Schering-Plough’s glycoprotein IIb/IIIa inhibitor for the treatment of acute coronary syndrome, and ACTIVASE®, Genentech’s thrombolytic therapy for acute myocardial infarction and ischemic stroke. She also serves on the agency's New Business Committee and Management Team, oversees employee training and development, and manages external communication projects on behalf of MCS.

Recently, Olga directed product communications activities on behalf of ERBITUX™, Bristol-Myers Squibb’s and ImClone Laboratories’ IgG1 monoclonal antibody for the treatment of EGFR-expressing, metastatic colorectal cancer (CRC). In addition to coordinating the announcement of the approval of ERBITUX for CRC by the Food and Drug Administration, Olga implemented the Roots of Support in CRC program, a national patient-education initiative conducted in partnership with the Colon Cancer Alliance and Olympic Gold Medalist Dara Torres, to assist patients and their loved ones in facing the diagnosis and treatment of CRC.

Olga has extensive experience in the cardiovascular therapeutic category including coordinating PR activities for the FDA approval and national launch of BMS's angiotensin II receptor antagonist for hypertension, Avapro®. This followed her work leading the agency's SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals account team supporting an investigational anti-hypertensive agent, during which she served as liaison to a distinguished panel of international cardiology and nephrology thought leaders. Olga also managed clinical trial communications activities on behalf of Zeneca Pharmaceuticals' congestive heart failure study Assessment of Treatment with Lisinopril And Survival (ATLAS), for which she coordinated the development of quarterly newsletters to 1,500 international clinical investigators and coordinators.

In addition, Olga has demonstrated expertise in directing patient recruitment programs for major clinical trials, including a highly successful patient recruitment campaign for Immunex Corporation’s study of Enbrel® for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis. Previously, she worked on a large-scale recruitment project for Organon, Inc., in the area of women's health.

Olga joined MCS as a public relations intern. She graduated summa cum laude from Seton Hall University with a bachelor's degree in communications.
