MCS has provided communications support for a number of endocrine products, both for rare conditions like acromegaly, and for better-known diseases such as diabetes. From media relations, to internal communications, to relationship building with third-party patient and professional organizations, MCS provides superior strategic counsel and product communications programs to support, establish, maintain and grow our clients' positions in the marketplace.
Focus on Diabetes
MCS has supported four treatments for Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, from early clinical trial results for the AERx Diabetes Management System, an inhaled insulin delivery system from Aradigm, to post-marketing support for Glucophage® from Bristol-Myers Squibb. Our influential public relations programs target patients, professionals and the media. Support for our clients with diabetes treatments has included implementation of surveys of physicians and consumers, professional relations, development and placement of consumer feature articles, communication of data publication and presentations at medical meetings, and implementation of extensive, successful media relations activities.
Strategic Partnerships
In endocrinology, diabetes and pituitary disorders, the lasting relationships we have forged with professional and patient organizations offer us the necessary insight and understanding of the issues surrounding the diseases to provide excellent service to our clients. These groups include:
Overcoming Challenges
Achieving public relations success for rare diseases can be challenging, but MCS' perseverance has succeeded in garnering national and local attention for rare diseases and the products that treat them. We have worked with nationally renowned endocrinologists, key professional groups and influential patient advocacy organizations to raise awareness of the hormone disorder acromegaly and the noncancerous pituitary tumors, affecting one in five American adults, that cause this and other diseases of the endocrine system.
Results
MCS has obtained coverage for our endocrinology clients in major broadcast, print and Internet media directed at consumers and professionals. Some highlights include Good Morning America, Fortune, Reader's Digest, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today and BioCentury.
Our commitment to helping health care companies bring effective new therapies to market extends beyond media relations. Our clinical trial recruitment expertise enabled Organon to achieve full enrollment in a study of Tibolone, a synthetic hormone, for osteoporosis in 700 post-menopausal women. Standardization of messages through an advertising campaign and a turnkey communications module on conducting community relations jump-started previously sluggish trial enrollment and made it possible for the company to meet its goals on time.
